After a very successful 2017 year, notably due to the critically acclaimed La Flor de Ynclan cigar, Villiger Cigars has now announced a lancero followup for 2018.

La Flor de Ynclan was originally released in 2005 in limited production, but when Heinrich Villiger was unsatisfied with the blend, the tobaccos were placed on hold for over a decade. The cigars were re-blended by Master Blender Matias Maragoto and Heinrich Villiger and reintroduced to the market in 2017, debuting in three sizes.

The modern rendition of La Flor de Ynclan uses an Ecuadorian wrapper over an Indonesia binder and fillers of Nicaragua and the Dominican Republic—some of which are aged upwards of 10 years. The cigars received high praise in 2017, including a 91 rating from Cigar Dojo, a 93 rating from Cigar Aficionado, and #8 and #10 Cigar of the Year designations from each publication respectively.

New for 2018, Villiger will display the cigars in a new 6¾” x 43 Lancero Especial vitola at the IPCPR trade show. The Lancero Especial will retail for $11.00 (in line with the Robusto vitola as the most affordable in the series), being produced in limited allotments of 500 boxes of 25 cigars per year.

As I have stated in the past, the Villiger La Flor de Ynclan cigar has been an ongoing labor of love for us, and we feel that we have further refined the blend with the addition of the this special edition lancero vitola.Chairman of the Board Heinrich Villiger
