The famedย Robaina family has partnered with theย Burmese Tobacco Trading Company to introduce a truly unique collaboration, which will make its appearance in 2018 as “Don Alejo Robaina.”
Don Alejo Robaina has been named to honor the lateย Don Alejandro Robaina, whom was among the most famed growers of Cuban tobacco in history, fondly remembered as “The Godfather of Cuban tobacco.”
Reportedly, members of theย Robaina family have partnered with theย Huang family, owners of the Chinese-American groupย Burmese Tobacco Trading Company. Most interestingly, the project is set to take place in the unique growing region ofย Pyin Oo Lwin, Myanmar, a country that borders south of China and west of Thailand.ย Pyin Oo Lwin is a small town with a relatively high altitude and is said to be quite similar in climate to Cuba’s famedย Pinar del Rรญo growing region.
Theย Don Alejo Robaina project has been estimated to have a 2018 release date, with cigars being distributed to Europe, North America, and Asian markets.
UPDATE: following the announcement ofย Burmese Tobacco Trading Company’sย Don Alejo Robaina project,ย Hirochiย Robaina (grandson of Don Alejandro Robaina) has issued a response, distancing himself from the project. Though Burmese Tobacco’s initial press release made no mention ofย Hirochi’s involvement, he has voiced his disapproval as suchโ
