Gurkha Cigars will not be introducing any new cigars at the 2017 IPCPR for the first time this year. Instead, do to the FDA’s new regulations the company has decided to re-release some of it’s most popular predicate brick and mortar brands. The company has decided to reintroduce four popular brands to the market place including the Master Select, the Havana Legend, the Blendmaster’s Cask, and the Cellar Reserve 10 year Anniversary.

THE MASTER SELECT
The Master Select was originally introduced to the market place in 2001 and was that year’s best selling cigar.

The Cigar was made by the Olivas family in 2001 and is one blend that will be available in five sizes. We went back to Fidel Olivas where we discovered he still had the original recipe allowing us to re-release this immensely popular cigar. The blend is known as the OVB (Original Vintage Blend).

The cigars will releases in their original packaging and will be available in five sizes and retail cost range from $7.50 to $11.50 per stick. Boxes will be 25 count for the following sizes:

  • Robusto – $187.50/ box (RETAIL)
  • Toro – $212.50/ box (RETAIL)
  • 6×60 Parejo – $250/ box (RETAIL)
  • Perfecto #1 6×60 – $287.50/ box (RETAIL)
  • Perfecto #2 and Toro – $237.50 (RETAIL)

This mild to medium smoke is made of Habano wrapper, a Honduran/Habano binder and Nicaraguan/Dominican filler. It will be available in late July.

HAVANA LEGEND
The Havana Legend was an original bend that Gurkha CEO, Kaizad Hansotia had in 1999 under the Gurkha Legend series. The company is excited to bring back this blend with a rare vintage Habano wrapper.

The cigars will be available in four sizes and come in 20 count boxes:

  • Robust Corto 4.5×48 – $100/Box and $5/cigar (RETAIL)
  • Robust 5×54 – $110/box and $5.50/cigar (RETAIL)
  • Toro 6×50 – $120/box and $6/cigar (RETAIL)
  • XO 6×60 – $180/box and $9/cigar (RETAIL)

This medium to full smoke boasts a peppery and nutty flavor and will be available in early fall.

BLENDMASTER’S CASK
The mild and creamy smoke that boasts a hint of spice will be available in September.

The cigars will be available in three sizes.

  • XO – 6×60 (20 count boxes) $260 per box or $13 per cigar (retail)
  • Ambassador – 7×55 (20 count boxes) $240per box or $12 per cigar (retail)
  • Solara – 5×52 (tubos five pack), $64 (retail)
  • Churchill 7×55 (tubos five pack), $70 (retail)
  • Toro 6 x 52 (tubos five pack) $60 (retail)

The Blendmaster’s Cask is created with an Ecuadorian wrapper and Dominican/Nicaraguan filler and binder.

10-YEAR ANNIVERSARY CELLER RESERVE
The special edition 15-year Cellar Reserve cigar will be created to commemorate the Cellar Reserve’s 10-year anniversary, the company’s first brick and mortar cigar and its most successful brand.

The cigars will be rolled in a special vitola will be rolled in a hand selected, rare wrapper and come in a 50-count humidor box. The medium body, full-flavor smoke will come from an Ecuadorian Rosado wrapper, the Vintage Nicaraguan filler from Jalapa, Condega and Esteli and a Nicaraguan binder.

The limited edition humidor boxes will be individually numbered and available toward the end of August 2017. Only a 1,000 (50 count) boxes will be made and they will retail for $700/box. Individual cigars will be sold for $14 per stick.
