With the annual IPCPR trade show looming, Cubariqueño Cigar Co. has unveiled a slew of new products, line extensions, and limited edition cigars. At the forefront is the brand’s first Connecticut offering: Protocol Themis. The cigar was first announced on an episode of Smoke Night Live and Cubariqueño has now revealed the cigars will be made available at this year’s IPCPR show.
Protocol Themis pays homage to the Lady of Justice symbol. Themis, from ancient Greek mythology, was the Titan goddess of divine law and order – the traditional rules of conduct, first established by the gods.
As with Cubariqueño’s previous two releases, Protocol Themis debuts in two sizes: 5″ x 52 Robusto ($9.69 MSRP) and 6″ x 52 Toro ($9.89 MSRP). Themis uses an Ecuadoran Connecticut wrapper over Nicaragua binder and fillers and will come packaged in 10-count boxes (as opposed to the 10-count soft bundles of the original Protocol cigar).
A year following the brand’s freshman release, Cubariqueño updated the original Protocol cigar with a fan-favorite lancero size. Now, a year following their sophomore release, the Protocol Probable Cause will receive the lancero treatment as well. Cubariqueño co-founder Juan Cancel commented in a press release:
The Probable Cause Lancero will stand in at 7½” x 38 and will be box pressed. It will be available in 10-count boxes. The price of the Lancero will M.S.R.P. at $10.50. The Protocol Probable Cause Lancero is being introduced as a regular production.
Finally, the brand will be celebrating their two-year anniversary with a special release party at Berkeley Humidor in Berkeley Heights, NJ on May 13, 2017. Cubariqueño will showcase the previously mentioned cigars alongside a new shop-exclusive blend dubbed “Guadalupe.”
Guadalupe was a special blend that was created by Cubariqueño Cigar Co. for a limited store exclusive, packaged in soft packs of 10. The Guadalupe is 6 x 52 boxpress cigar. We have not made the blend public on this offering.
