Drew Estate unveiled a slew of highly unorthodox blends at the 2016 IPCPR show, building on the already-unique attributes of their Kentucky Fire Cured cigars. For Swamp Thang and Swamp Rat, the cigars offer two wrappers (divided under the cigar’s band), with a bright green candela leaf being the focal point of the new blend.
Kentucky Fire Cured cigars originally debuted in 2013, with DE offering their take on fire-cured tobaccos—an old-school technique that uses smoked wood (such as hickory) under the curing tobaccos to impart smokey, barbecue-like flavors onto the tobacco.
While multiple companies have offered fire-cured blends, Drew Estate is the first to pair the style with a candela wrapper, with a resulting profile described as:
Pairing the smokiness of Fire Cured Tobacco with the sweetness of Candela wrapper, Kentucky Fire Cured Swamp creates a uniquely balanced, complex and savory cigar; perfect for fans of both Fire Cured and Candela tobaccos.
The cigars are shipping in three sizes, using 10-count paper packaging similar to other MUWAT cigars, as well as larger, refillable treys for retailers.
