Broncano Cigar Co. is adding a smaller size to Classic Rubí, with its earliest retail supporters getting the first shipments.
The new Classic Rubí Corona measures 5 x 46 and has a pigtail cap. Produced at Kelner Boutique Factory in the Dominican Republic, it uses an HVA Ecuador wrapper over a Dominican San Vicente Seco binder. The fillers combine Dominican Criollo 98 and Piloto Cubano, Mexican San Andrés Morron and U.S. Broadleaf. Broncano describes its strength as medium-plus.
According to the company, the smaller format increases the wrapper-to-filler ratio compared with its larger Classic Rubí sizes.
“Rubí has developed a strong identity for us, and I didn’t want the Corona to simply be another size,” said Martin Smith, founder and president of Broncano Cigar Co. “The 5 × 46 format gives the blend a different balance and smoking experience while still being unmistakably Rubí.”
The initial shipments are going to select retailers that supported Broncano early on, rather than starting with a broad rollout. The cigars are shipping now, with arrival at those stores expected in mid-to-late November.
The Corona comes in a four-count sleeve-and-tray box priced at $50, equivalent to $12.50 per cigar.
