Espinosa Premium Cigars is taking its long-running Warhead series in a new direction with a limited edition made only for members of the Tobacconists’ Association of America (TAA).

The new La Bomba Warhead TAA is a 6 x 55 box-pressed toro, and it swaps in a Mexican San Andrรฉs wrapper over a Nicaraguan binder and Nicaraguan fillers. Espinosa calls the blend “a unique, flavorful take on the already successful Warhead blend.” That’s a notable change for a series that started on Connecticut Broadleaf in 2013 and has used Nicaraguan Broadleaf on its numbered releases since Warhead VI in 2020.

“Warhead is very special to us. It was our very first limited edition, and while it goes through a yearly iteration, it is always our most anticipated release,” said Erik Espinosa, owner of Espinosa Premium Cigars. “We wanted to provide the TAA retailers with something truly original and something that will be talked about for years to come.”

The original 601 La Bomba Warhead debuted at the 2013 IPCPR trade show as a 6ยฝ x 54 semi-box-pressed cigar limited to 2,000 boxes of 10, with a foot band that unrolled into a World War II style bomb complete with Flying Tigers shark-face nose art. New versions have followed almost every year since, skipping only 2015 and 2017. Earlier this year the company announced Warhead 12, a 6โ…› x 58 Nicaraguan Broadleaf release, plus a 250th anniversary Independence Day edition. The TAA box keeps the theme going with a bomb-shaped design featuring shark-face artwork and a “Kilroy Was Here” graphic.

Like the rest of the Warhead line, the TAA edition is made at the San Lotano Factory in Ocotal, Nicaragua. Production is capped at 1,250 boxes of 10 cigars, or 12,500 total. Pricing is set at $16 per cigar, or $160 per box, and shipments to TAA retailers are scheduled to start in November.
