Casa Carrillo has announced a new charitable initiative that connects its La Historia Silk cigar to Dress for Success Miami, a nonprofit organization that helps women prepare for and advance in the workforce.
The effort is part of the company’s Carrillo Cares program. Casa Carrillo says a portion of the proceeds from the latest shipment of La Historia Silk sold to retailers will be donated to Dress for Success Miami.
According to the company, the partnership was chosen because La Historia Silk was inspired by the women who helped shape the Perez-Carrillo family legacy. Dress for Success Miami has assisted more than 40,000 women since 1994 by providing professional attire, career development resources, and support for women seeking long-term economic independence.
“Women have played an important role in our family, our history, and our success,” said Lissette Perez-Carrillo, Co-Founder of Casa Carrillo. “La Historia Silk was inspired by that influence, strength, and support. Partnering with Dress for Success Miami allows us to extend that story beyond the cigar and support an organization that is helping women create opportunities for themselves and their families.”
The announcement also highlights Carrillo Cares, the company’s charitable program, which has previously donated more than $200,000 to the Els for Autism Foundation while also supporting organizations that serve military communities through its Battleborn cigar.
“A great cigar can tell a story, bring people together, and make a difference beyond the humidor,” said Perez-Carrillo. “Carrillo Cares gives us an opportunity to use our platform to support organizations doing meaningful work in our communities.”
La Historia Silk is produced in a single 6 x 52 Toro vitola. The blend uses an Ecuadorian Habano wrapper, a Nicaraguan binder from Estelí, and fillers from Nicaragua, the Dominican Republic, Mexico, and Pennsylvania Broadleaf. The release also marks the first round-format Perez-Carrillo cigar sold in the U.S. and the first to feature Casa Carrillo’s updated packaging.
