After debuting earlier this year as part of the annual Firecracker series, the Independence blend is returning as a regular production cigar.

United Cigars announced that Independence will become a permanent offering in the Arnold Andrรฉ premium cigar lineup, with shipments to retailers scheduled to begin on August 27. The release follows the limited Independence Firecracker, which was created to celebrate the 250th anniversary of the United States.

Unlike the Firecracker version, the regular production cigars will not feature the signature fuse cap. Instead, the blend will be offered in two traditional sizes: a 4โ…ž x 50 Robusto and a 5โ…ž x 50 Toro. According to the company, the blend remains unchanged from the Firecracker release.

“Why mess with success?” said Oliver Nivaud of United Cigars, the exclusive U.S. distributor of Arnold Andrรฉ premium cigars, including Montosa and Terra Nova. “The Independence Firecracker exceeded every expectation. Rather than retire a blend people fell in love with, we’re making Independence a permanent part of the Arnold Andrรฉ portfolio.”

This isn’t the first time a Firecracker collaboration has evolved into a regular production cigar. Previous examples include Mi Querida Triqui Traca and Fratello Fuoco Oro, both of which began as Firecracker exclusives before joining their respective manufacturers’ core portfolios.

The blend consists of a Mexican Habano wrapper over a Dominican binder with Dominican and Nicaraguan ligero fillers. The cigars will be packaged in 12-count collectible tins featuring “Land of the Free” and “Home of the Brave” branding. The company says the tins are designed to be repurposed as cigar ashtrays after the cigars have been enjoyed.

Pricing is set at $10.50 per Robusto and $11.00 per Toro, with suggested retail prices of $126 and $132 per 12-count tin, respectively.
