J.C. Newman has introduced an updated version of Diamond Crown MAXIMUS, showing off the cigar at the 2026 PCA trade show in New Orleans.
The company says the new MAXIMUS keeps the same 20-count box format and pricing, but arrives with updated packaging and a revised blend intended to offer a bolder profile while maintaining the lineโs core character. Shipping is expected to begin in June.
โDiamond Crown MAXIMUS is the final cigar that my grandfather Stanford J. Newman created,โ said fourth-generation owner Drew Newman. โMAXIMUS is a collaboration between the three remaining cigar families in the โCigar Cityโ of Tampa, Florida: Arturo Fuente, J.C. Newman and John Oliva. They came together in 2002 to create MAXIMUS to celebrate J.C. Newmanโs 105th anniversary.โ
The cigar traces its roots back to a project involving the Fuente, Newman, and Oliva families, who worked together on the original release in 2002. According to J.C. Newman, the blend uses an Ecuadorian El Bajo sungrown wrapper developed from tobacco grown by John Oliva Sr., paired with filler tobaccos from across the Caribbean Basin.
J.C. Newman is also changing the presentation of the line. For more than 20 years, MAXIMUS has been associated with its royal blue box design. The latest version moves to a new handmade box with a more architectural look, while keeping the line positioned as one of the companyโs premium offerings.
The updated Diamond Crown MAXIMUS is the second of four new products J.C. Newman is introducing around this yearโs PCA trade show.
