What began as a one-time milestone release is now set to become a recurring annual offering.

According to an announcement from Altadis U.S.A., the Montecristo 90th Anniversary cigar will return each year as a limited-production, small-batch release. Originally introduced to commemorate the 90th anniversary of Montecristo, the blendโ€™s reception has led the company to keep it in the regular rotationโ€”albeit in limited quantities.

The project was developed by Rafael Nodal, Vice President of Product Capability for Tabacalera USA, in collaboration with the Plasencia family. Production utilizes Nicaraguan tobaccos sourced from Jalapa, Condega, Estelรญ, and Ometepe.

โ€œDue to popular demand, we couldnโ€™t let the Montecristo 90th Anniversary cigar be a one-and-done limited edition,โ€ said Gabe Diaz, Brand Manager. โ€œThe feedback and the demand were so positive, that turning the 90th into a small-batch, annual limited-production was the right decision, given what connoisseurs and the trade both demanded.โ€

Nodal added, โ€œCreating the Montecristo 90th Anniversary was a true privilege. Bringing it back annually lets us revisit the golden era of Havana even as we shape the next chapter of cigar making. And honestly, any moment is a worthy moment to celebrate Montecristoโ€™s 90-plus years.โ€

The cigar is described as medium in strength and will again be offered in two sizes:

  • Nacional (5ยฝ x 56 parejo) โ€“ MSRP $38.75
  • No. 2 (6โ…› x 52 figurado) โ€“ MSRP $40

Both formats feature Nicaraguan wrapper, binder, and filler tobaccos. As with the initial release, future allocations are expected to be limited each year.
