Last nightโ€™s NHL Stadium Series matchup in Tampa delivered more than just outdoor hockey, as the event also included a cigar-themed tribute tied to the cityโ€™s long-standing tobacco heritage.

In near-freezing conditions at Raymond James Stadium, the Tampa Bay Lightning edged out the Boston Bruins in a 6โ€“5 win. As part of the occasion, J.C. Newman Cigar Co. created a custom Stadium Series Diamond Crown Humidor at the request of the Lightning. The humidor was presented to NHL Commissioner Gary Bettman as part of the leagueโ€™s visit to Tampa and was filled with 100 Diamond Crown Classic cigars.

โ€œWe are very proud to be a partner and exclusive cigar maker of the Tampa Bay Lightning,โ€ said fourth-generation owner Drew Newman. โ€œAs Tampa is โ€˜Cigar City,โ€™ it is only fitting for the Lightning to welcome Commissioner Bettman to Tampa with a beautiful Diamond Crown Humidor and Diamond Crown cigars.โ€

The night also included a visual nod to Tampaโ€™s historic Ybor City cigar district, as Lightning Head Coach Jon Cooper and his assistants wore outfits inspired by the neighborhoodโ€™s traditional cigar culture. Following the win, the coaches reportedly lit cigars while leaving the stadium.

J.C. Newmanโ€™s connection to the team extends beyond special events, with the Diamond Crown Cigar Lounge located inside the Lightningโ€™s home arena. The lounge has been noted for offering a rare setting where fans can enjoy a cigar while watching the game.

The humidor created for the Stadium Series was a one-off piece and is not intended for commercial release.
