El Rey del Mundo is one of the lesser-known Cuban brands, let alone in its non-Cuban form under the STG umbrella, where it’s positioned as an affordable offering primarily rolled out of the company’s Honduran factory. But the company seems to be giving El Rey del Mundo some love in recent years, partnering with A.J. Fernández in 2022 (El Rey del Mundo by AJ) and the Eiroas in 2024 (El Rey del Mundo King of the World). While those projects were limited, the collaborative concept expanded with 2025’s El Rey del Mundo Appointment, this time making use of the Eiroa family’s Sumatra-seed wrapper grown on their farm in the Jamastran Valley of Honduras. The cover leaf surrounds a hearty Connecticut Broadleaf binder and fillers from Ecuador and Nicaragua, amounting to a surprisingly affordable, balanced, dependable, and flavor-forward experience. The profile centers around a core of brown sugar and cinnamon, given added vigor through notes of toasted cedar, black pepper, earth, and dried fruit through the finish.
