One hundred and fifty years of occupying the humidors of cigar enthusiasts around the world… let that sink in for a minute. Celebrating the milestone in 2025, Romeo y Julieta is now one of only a dozen brands in the history of cigarmaking that can make such a claim. In commemoration, the brand partnered with many of the industry’s top talents, sourcing tobacco from the likes of A.J. Fernández, the Turrent family, the Plasencia family, and José Méndez & Co. The wrapper is Ecuadorian Sumatra, supplied by A.J. Fernández and fermented under his supervision, while the binder comes from the Turrent family, best known for their San Andrés leaf. Filler tobaccos span multiple origins, including Peruvian leaf, Honduran tobacco from the Jamastran Valley provided by Plasencia, and Dominican-grown tobacco from José Méndez & Co. The blend is complemented by a well-aged leaf from an undisclosed source, adding a final layer of depth. In terms of smoking experience, the blend prioritizes flavor and texture over strength, coming across far more restrained than its recipe might suggest. It opens with a juicy, floral sweetness backed by mouthwatering texture and a nice gray pepper note. As it settles in, layers of cinnamon and molasses bread emerge, carried by a soft, rounded mouthfeel. Strength remains mellow throughout, allowing the profile to transition cleanly into toasted oak toward the finish. While the final stretch softens slightly, the cigar maintains a polished character to the end.
