J.C. Newman Cigar Co. has begun shipping a revived version of Sarzedas, a cigar brand that traces its origins back to 1900. Once known as โ€œThe Aromatic Cigar,โ€ the name reenters the market more than a century later with production now taking place at the companyโ€™s PENSA factory in Estelรญ, Nicaragua.

Fourth-generation owner Drew Newman explained the long-running interest in bringing the historic label back. โ€œI have loved the Sarzedas name and the brandโ€™s history as โ€˜The Aromatic Cigarโ€™ for years,โ€ he said, noting that the company waited until a blend felt appropriate for the brandโ€™s past. โ€œSarzedas is the most flavorful cigar we have ever made.โ€

The new Sarzedas line is offered in four sizes:

  • 6โ€ x 50 Toro
  • 4.75โ€ x 52 Robusto
  • 7โ€ x 48 Churchill
  • 5.5โ€ x 43 Corona

Blending was led by Rich Dolak, J.C. Newmanโ€™s longtime Vice President of Operations, who has worked with the Newman family for nearly three decades. The cigar features an Ecuadorian Shade wrapper with binder and filler tobaccos from the Dominican Republic and Nicaragua. Pricing ranges from $7.75 to $10 per cigar.

โ€œSarzedas is a fun, aromatic cigar that everyone can enjoy,โ€ Newman added.
