J.C. Newman Cigar Co. has announced the first release of The American and Angel Cuesta cigars for 2025, shipping this week to 105 retailers across 35 states. The timing of the release is intended to coincide with Memorial Day.
Both cigars are handcrafted at the companyโs historic El Reloj factory in Tampa, Floridaโbuilt in 1910 and still operating today as the last large cigar factory in the United States. Each roller produces approximately 80 cigars per day between the two lines.
โAs we prepare to remember and honor those who have given the greatest sacrifice for our country on Memorial Day next week, I wanted to release some of the finest American-made cigars,โ said Drew Newman, fourth-generation owner of the company. โAs a 130-year-old, four-generation, American family business, we are proud to help keep the centuries-old tradition of American cigarmaking alive with The American and Angel Cuesta.โ
The American is notable for its use of 100% American-grown tobaccos, including a Florida Sun Grown wrapper, Connecticut Broadleaf binder, and fillers from Connecticut and Pennsylvania. All materials used in packaging and production are also domestically sourced.
Angel Cuesta, originally created over a century ago and once enjoyed by Spanish royalty, features an Ecuadorian Havana Rosado wrapper and a blend of aged tobaccos from three continents. The cigars are finished with a pigtail cap.
J.C. Newman also continues to develop El Reloj as a cigar tourism destination, drawing more than 20,000 visitors last year. โEl Reloj is the premier destination for cigar tourism in the United States,โ said Newman. โLast year, we welcomed more than 20,000 cigar enthusiasts to visit our cigar museum, take a guided factory tour, enroll in our cigar-rolling and tobacco-tasting classes, or attend an event.โ
