Julio Eiroa, an 87-year-old cigar maker, has introduced the Aladino 85 Aniversario Reserva, a new addition to the JRE Tobacco portfolio. Originally planned as an 80th anniversary project, the cigar’s development extended over several years as Eiroa worked with the Pinareño seed, a rare Cuban variety brought to Honduras in 1960 by Tino Agurdin. Known for its small yields and susceptibility to disease, the Pinareño seed forms the wrapper, binder, and filler of this mild-to-medium cigar, which features notes of cedar, cinnamon, chestnuts, and florals.

The cigar will be available in two vitolas: Robusto (5 x 50, $17.50) and Toro (6 x 52, $20.00), with production limited to four boxes per vitola monthly. The packaging, a yellow box featuring Eiroa’s 1961 Buick, reflects his personal history and Cuban roots. The launch is scheduled for the PCA trade show in April 2025 at Fabrica de Puros Aladino in Honduras.

Additionally, the PCA event will feature the debut of Hand Rolled: Julio R. Eiroa, a docuseries episode airing on April 11, 2025, at 1:00 p.m. in New Orleans. Hosted by Aladino, the viewing includes a cigar and highlights Eiroa’s career, with interviews from his sons Justo and Christian, John Oliva, Carlos “Carlito” Fuente, and Nestor Plasencia Sr. Clips will also be shown at JRE Tobacco’s booth #2647.
