Dunbarton Tobacco & Trust will begin shipping Sobremesa Solita “Red” on Tuesday, February 25, 2025, to select purveyors. This limited production cigar, a 6.25 x 46 parejo, comes in the brand’s familiar semi-boite nature dress box. The blend builds on the original Sobremesa recipe, using a dark rosado Grade 1 Ecuador Habano wrapper, a San Andres Negro binder, and a mix of four Nicaraguan and one Pennsylvania Seedleaf filler tobaccos.

Introduced in 2015 as Sobremesa, the blend was renamed Sobremesa Solita in 2024 to distinguish it from the milder Sobremesa Brulée, which uses Connecticut Shade. Steve Saka, DTT’s founder and blender, explained the personal significance of the cigar, noting its role as the company’s debut release a decade ago. He began adjusting the Cervantes Fino size three years ago, aiming to enhance its flavor. The result, Sobremesa Solita “Red,” offers notes of cocoa, cinnamon, anise, and a clover honey finish, with a fuller body.

Saka decided to replace the original Cervantes Fino with this revised blend, aligning with his philosophy of selling only the cigars he smokes himself. The “Red” features the classic Sobremesa Crown ring in a new red color to mark its distinction. It will be sold in 13-count boxes, priced at $17.95 per cigar or $233.50 per box. Initial production is limited, and availability will be restricted to qualified purveyors.
