General Cigar Company have announced that La Gloria Cubana is shipping the 2024 allocation of Corojo de Oro, a limited-edition blend that debuted in 2023 and is named after a proprietary hybrid tobacco. The varietal was developed in “innovation” fields in Mao, a picturesque valley in Northwestern Dominican Republic where La Gloria Cubana’s agronomists breed tobaccos for small batch releases.

Called Corojo de Oro, the hybrid was created by crossing two Cuban seed tobaccos: the versatile Corojo 97-98 with the rare Cuban seed Pelo de Oro. While of wrapper quality, the hybrid leaf was selected as the binder for this one-of-a-kind blend.

Cory Beardsley, assistant brand manager for La Gloria Cubana said, “In creating a new tobacco varietal, our artisans developed Corojo de Oro to be a distinctive cigar that is unlike any other blend. This cigar is one of those rare finds, and it’s one that delivers on its promise of providing an extraordinary smoking experience.”
