With Nicaragua’s oldest cigar factory celebrating their 55th anniversary on June 28th, Joya de Nicaragua has announced the Cinco de Cinco cigar—which will make its debut later this week at the PCA trade show in Las Vegas.

Cinco de Cinco is the fifth cigar (or fourth regular-production cigar) in Joya’s Obras Maestras (Masterpieces) series. The collection began in 2013 with the Cuatro Cinco Reserva Especial (celebrating Joya’s 45th anniversary), being followed in 2018 by the Cinco Décadas, 2019 with the Número Uno, and 2021 with the Dos Cientos.

“This cigar was made with the people, by the people and for the people,” says Juan Ignacio Martínez, Executive President of JDN. “Our past is all about tobacco. Our bright future is all about tobacco. We are here, stronger than ever thanks to our wonderful community of amigos.”

Setting itself apart from former Obras Maestras cigars, the Cinco de Cinco sports a Mexican San Andrés wrapper for the first time in the series. This leaf surrounds “ultra-vintage” tobaccos from Nicaragua throughout the binder/filler, arriving in five soft-pressed sizes. Joya describes this combination as “a five out of five in profile and complexity; full bodied and medium strength, with deep, rich, earthy flavours, it offers hints of cocoa and dark chocolate.”

The cigars are packaged in boxes of 10, with three sizes making their way to the US, while the other two will be reserved for international markets. Pricing has been set between $15.95  and $20.55  MSRP per cigar, with the collection first debuting at PCA and later coming to the InterTabac trade show in Dortmund in September. Shipping will begin in September for the US, followed by a global release in October.
