HVC Cigars has announced a followup release to 2022’s HVC Selección No. 1, offering a natural-wrapped variation of the line this March.
Like its predecessor, the HVC Selección No. 1 Natural is rolled out of the company’s own factory—Frabrica de tabacos HVC S.A de Reinier Lorenzo—a boutique facility in Estelí that debuted last year with the first Selección No. 1 release.
HVC Selección No. 1 Natural makes use of a similar core recipe to the maduro-wrapped original, including all-Nicaraguan binder/fillers from the Jalapa and Estelí regions of Nicaragua. Where the 2022 released used a Mexican San Andrés maduro wrapper, the Natural swaps this ingredient for an Ecuadorian Habano ’92 leaf.
For us, the blend is medium full body cigar with rich flavors and a clean finish to the palate. It is with much pride that I launch this cigar packaged in a beautiful old school yellow box bringing back my Cuban roots.
The cigars are rolled in the same three sizes as the original:
- Esenciales: 5⅝” x 46 | $8.40
- Short Robusto: 4½” x 52 | $9.30
- Poderosos: 6″ x 54 | $10.40
Packaging resembles the first release as well, swapping the vibrant green boxes for an “old school yellow,” each containing 20 cigars. Described as medium-full in body, the HVC Selección No. 1 Natural will debut at next week’s TPE trade show in Las Vegas, and are scheduled to begin shipping the first week of March.
Earlier this year, the HVC Selección No. 1 was awarded Cigar Dojo’s No. 5 Cigar of the Year for 2022.
