There have been a multitude of Tatuaje brands to use Mexican San Andrés wrappers over the years, including but not limited to the Mexican Experiment (and its followup ME II); The Face and The Krueger (of the Monster Series); the Tatuaje TAA 51th; and a handful of more limited shop exclusives over the years. But in 2022, this wrapper style opened up for use across the company’s portfolio at large. Formerly, you may have encountered popular releases such as the T110, Avion 13, or Tatuaje 7th donning sub-bands such as Capa Especial (Sumatra wrapper) or Reserva Broadleaf (Broadleaf wrapper). These categories are now joined by the Tuxtla sub-band, which showcases the given blend with the addition of a San Andrés wrapper. We found the Tatuaje 7th Tuxtla to stand out best, with the cigar’s 5⅝” x 46 corona format allowing the wrapper to shine. With a concentrated smoke, the cigar is more balanced and nuanced than anticipated, diving into warm and creamy flavors in the range of Mexican hot chocolate, clove, cinnamon, and hints of black licorice.
