Earlier this week, Southern Draw Cigars announced the Morning Glory as a new Connecticut addition to their lineup. The Texas-based company continued the news today, revealing the maduro-wrapped Evening Primrose.
Together, the cigars make up something of a yin and yang, as the claro-wrapped Morning Glory is named for a flower that blooms in the morning, while the maduro-wrapped Evening Primrose is named for a flower (Oenothera pallida) that blooms in the evening.
Southern Draw Evening Primrose will help to offset growing demand for the brand’s Jacobs Ladder line, which has grown to production numbers of one million cigars per year through 2020 and 2021. Compared to the Broadleaf-wrapped Jacobs Ladder, the Evening Primrose is described as “more flavor forward” and “offering more robust flavors and intense aromas that slowly but certainly transition as the tobaccos warm during the smoking experience.”
The EVENING PRIMROSE will likely be considered by most as more robust than the JACOBS LADDER, however, distinctly different, and equal to the task of placement in our growing family of blends. The Southern Draw Cigars family shares the EVENING PRIMROSE blend when we settle down from our long workday, now giving thanks publicly to our incredible partners.
The Evening Primrose is wrapped in Mexican San Andrés, concealing an Ecuadorian Sumatra (seventh priming) binder and fillers of Honduras, Nicaragua, and USA ligero. The cigars are rolled in the same five formats as the Morning Glory, including two limited formats that will debut at this year’s CIGARfest by Cigars International, offered at CI locations in the Create-Your-Own CIGARfest – 64 Cigar – Deluxe Cigar Package from September 24th to October 29th, 2022. The remaining three sizes are regular production and will become available in Q1 2023.
Pre-sales were originally slated for retailers on Nov. 15th for both cigars, but Southern Draw today announced that they have moved orders up to today, Oct. 7th.
