For the first time, Drew Estate is adding a new format to the Liga Privada H99 Connecticut Corojo, announcing the event-exclusiveย Liga Privada H99 Phineas Gage Lancero. The cigars were first teased by Drew Estate during last week’s Freestyle Live event, though more details have now been made available.
Similar to the Liga brand’s รnico Serie, the lancero takes on a unique look to distinguish it from the core H99 collection, replacing “H99” on the cigar’s band with “Phineas Gage.” This extends to the packaging as well, with each cigar being secured in individual petaca-style boxes within flat boxes of 10 cigars. While similar to รnico cigars, the Phineas Gage is not explicitly listed as being a part of the series.

The cigar was inspired by the story of 19th century railroad foreman Phineas Gage:
[Phineas Gage] survived a grievous accident when an iron rod was driven completely through his head, forever changing his personality. Also known as โThe American Crowbar Case,โ Gageโs story became a medical curiosity and spearheaded psychological and neurological studies into how the brain affects personality development.
The cigars make use of the same blend as the standard H99, including a hybrid stalk-cut/cured H99 Connecticut Corojo wrapper from the Connecticut River Valley. This leaf surrounds a Mexican San Andrรฉs Otapan Negro รltimo Corte binder and Honduran, Nicaraguan, and Pennsylvania Green River One Sucker fillers.
โThe Liga Privada H99 Phineas Gage Lancero hits you like a spike right through your brainbox and youโll never be the same,โ says Drew Estate Founder and President, Jonathan Drew.
Drew Estate will begin selling Phineas Gage at events across the country this June, which are exclusive to Drew Diplomat-authorized retailers and limited to three boxes per event. Sized at 7″ x 40, the lanceros are set to retail for $19 MSRP per cigar.
