The Nica Rustica now has a sibling, as Drew Estate revealed the Habano-wrapped Nica Rustica Adobe during last night’s Freestyle Live event.
Over the past year or two, Drew Estate has begun releasing new brands through such live-streamed events, where the company allows cigar hobbyists the chance to purchase sampler packs of the new mystery blend and speculate before the grand reveal.
As details have now fully emerged, the latest reveal is the Nica Rustica Adobe, the first addition to the Nica Rustica brand since the original blend debuted in 2013. The Adobe features a teal-colored rendition of the Nica Rustica branding, incorporating the updated packaging for Nica Rustica that was launched in 2021.
Rolled out of Drew Estate’s La Gran Fabrica factory in Estelí, the Adobe consists of a “Habano wrapper, Brazilian binder and Nicaraguan filler tobaccos from Estelí and Jalapa.” Like the Nica Rustica Broadleaf, the cigars are described as “Unpolished and unrefined,” with the Adobe being medium to full-bodied and spicier in character.
“Nica Rustica Adobe is a proud and no-nonsense cigar that represents our strong bond between La Gran Fabrica Drew Estate and its beautiful Nicaraguan home, where the mountains meet the sun,” says Jonathan Drew, Founder and President of Drew Estate. “We are united as one with the proud Estelíanos who work in and run our factory … and who bring the Drew Estate story to life every day around the world. From our house to your humidor, Nica Rustica Adobe is an audacious Habano experience that everyone at La Gran Fabrica Drew Estate is excited for you to try.”
But while packaging mirrors the original—including artwork by Subculture Studios’ Richard “Dog” Diaz—the cigars are rolled in new formats, including: Toro (6″ x 52), Robusto (5″ x 54), and Gordo (6″ x 60). Additionally, the cigars are rolled without the twisted pigtail cap found on the Broadleaf. The cigars are packaged in boxes of 25 and continue the value-priced model of the original, ranging from $5.20 to $6.48 MSRP per cigar. Drew Estate is expected to begin shipping the Nica Rustica Adobe to retailers this August.
