Scandinavian Tobacco Group (STG) has announced the Partagas Añejo as the latest addition to the Partagas brand, marking the first Partagas cigar to showcase a barber pole wrapper.

As Añejo is a popular branding choice in the premium cigar world—meaning aged—Partagas does not take the term lightly, using tobaccos as old as 24 years. This includes a 1998 Cameroon leaf alongside a 2013 Connecticut Shade, together making up the barber pole wrapper. This combination surrounds a Dominican binder and fillers of Mexico and the Dominican Republic.

Matt Wilson, senior brand manager for Partagas said, “With Partagas Añejo, we have taken the brand’s long-term association with aged Cameroon wrappers to a new level. Not only have we created the first Partagas cigar to have a barber pole wrapper, but we’ve also done so with tobaccos that are among the most aged we’ve ever used. Añejo will become a seasonal offering for Partagas, one that will give us the opportunity to highlight the intricacies and nuances of deeply-aged Cameroon wrapper.”

The Partagas Añejo will be distributed by Forged Cigar Company (as STG split their brands between General Cigar Co. and Forged in 2021) and is estimated to begin shipping on March 1st. The cigars are rolled at General Cigars Dominicana and presented in two formats (4½” x 49 Petit Robusto and 4½” x 60 Esplendido), priced at $6.99 and $7.49 respectively.
