Caldwell Cigar Co. has teased a limited spinoff of the company’s core-line The King is Dead cigar, dubbed The King is Dead Escape Plan.
Since debuting in 2014, the company’s core has remained the Caldwell Collection, consisting of the Eastern Standard, The King is Dead, and Long Live the King brands. Over the years, these cigars have received multiple spinoffs and limited tweaks, though The King is Dead has certainly lagged behind the other two.
But the brand will receive some added attention next January, with limited quantities of the Escape Plan set to ship on Jan. 15th, 2022. The cigars feature a new take on the familiar packaging/design, a change of wrapper from Dominican Negrito to Mexican San Andrés, and box-pressed shapes. This includes four sizes: Shortcut (5½” x 46), Autopilot (7″ x 48), The Grand Tour (5″ x 54), and Drybegger (6″ x 52). The cigars are packaged in boxes of 20 and will retail between $14 and $16 MSRP.
