As Crowned Heads has done annually since 2014, the company will release a limited installment of the fan-favorite Las Calaveras series for 2021.
Las Calaveras Edición Limitada 2021 features familiar packaging, swapping the color scheme for a new bright yellow color palette. As with all previous releases, Las Calaveras EL 2021 was rolled at the My Father Cigars factory in Estelí, though the blend will be topped with a Sumatra wrapper for the first time.
Crowned Heads continues the theme Día de Muertos, honoring those who have passed away through the previous year; this is in contrast to a mournful symbol of death and loss. This is seen through several themes, including the initials of four individuals close to the Crowned Heads team, emblematized on the four coins that flank each cigar’s bands. Additionally, the cigars are packaged with three rows of eight cigars, with eight symbolizing infinity, and three symbolizing the beginning, middle, and end of life.
Production has increased from last year’s release, with 1,250 boxes being crafted for each of the three sizes. As with past releases, Crowned Heads will also introduce sampler packs of four cigars—limited to 1,750—including each of the three sizes and an added lancero (6½” x 40) format. The core sizes are slightly different than previous releases: LC48 (6″ x 48), LC50 (5″ x 50), and LC54 (5¾” x 54). Priced between $10.95 and $12.95, Las Calaveras Edición Limitada 2021 is scheduled to begin shipping this July.
