Maya Selva Cigars has announced a new addition to the Cumpay line—Cumpay Robusto Maduro—which is salted to debut at this year’s TPE trade show in Las Vegas.
Cumpay first debuted in 1999, taking advantage of the growing popularity of Nicaraguan tobacco at the time. The Cumpay name is the Tawakha Indian name for a rolled tobacco leaf, and the Robusto Maduro is described as being “dressed in the dark colours of the volcanic soil it originated in.”
Cumpay Robusto Maduro joins the former Cumpay Volcán Maduro as the only maduros in the lineup, with the robusto being sized at 4¾” x 50. The cigar makes use of a dark Nicaraguan Jalapa wrapper, Nicaraguan Estelí binder, and all-Nicaraguan fillers, described as “unique flavour, balanced and surprisingly smooth.”
The cigars will debut in the USA, first shown at the TPE trade show, taking place May 12–14.
