Davidoff is set to unveil a new limited offering that is themed around the Dominican Republic, the country that has produced the cigars since the early ’90s.
Dubbed Davidoff Dominicana, the cigar aims to play to “the essence of the vibrant Dominican lifestyle and culture.” To accomplish the task, Davidoff’s Master Blenders combined vintage tobaccos from a 2014 harvest, including five filler leaves from the Dominican Republic, an Ecuadorian hybrid binder, and a Dominican hybrid wrapper.
The cigars fall in line with Davidoff’s White Label collection, bearing the iconic white band, yet are described as fuller in body than the traditional lines. The blend has been rolled in three formats, each containing six-year aged tobaccos and an additional year aging after being rolled.
Due to the limited nature of the tobaccos, Davidoff Dominicana will be a limited offering, being made available until the tobacco stock is depleted. As such, the cigars bear a variant of the Vintage emblem seen on releases of this nature over the past few years. But where recent releases have been labeled “Vintage Blend,” being re-releases of former acclaimed cigars, the Davidoff Dominicana is a new creation, changing the label to “Vintage Tobacco,” highlighting the 2014 tobacco harvest. This is seen on the cigar’s foot band as well, displaying “2014.”
The cigars are scheduled to begin shipping in May, available at select Davidoff Appointed Merchants and Flagship Stores.
