Espinosa Premium Cigars now has an event-only cigar, debuting Crema de Laranja through a virtual event with Smoke Inn Cigars on Sep. 17th.

Those familiar with Espinosa’s lineup will recognize the name as a mashup between two of the company’s core-line offerings: Espinosa Crema and Laranja Reserva. But the concept extends much further, as the cigar’s blend combines elements from each cigar, including fillers from each blend and a barber-pole wrapper from each cigar’s respective leaf.

Espinosa Crema first launched in 2016 as among the most mild offerings from Espinosa; the cigars use an Ecuadorian Connecticut wrapper over all-Nicaraguan binder/fillers. The Laranja debuted in 2014, being known for the cigar’s signature Brazilian Laranja wrapper and the blend’s bright and full-flavored profile.

According to Héctor J. Alfonso Sr., director of operations at Espinosa, the event-only concept has been in the works since 2016, originally intended for the Alpha Dawg (which instead became a regular Espinosa offering), though the idea had been placed on hold due to FDA concerns.

We came out with Alpha Dawg, but in the shadow of the FDA oversight, we decided to make it a regular production cigar. Four years later as things seem a little better for us, we decided that we can do this project.  It is a true blend of both Crema and Laranja fillers, in a barber pole with the Crema and Laranja wrappers.

It’s a blend, of two blends, a lovely mix, but you know its not for everyone.Héctor J. Alfonso Sr., director of operations

The cigars are not for sale, being offered at Espinosa events where Erik Espinosa, Erik Espinosa, Jr., Jack Toraño, or Richie Otero attend. Until regular in-person events resume, the cigars are being offered through special virtual events. Crema de Laranja is rolled in a singular 6″ x 52 toro format at the company’s La Zona factory in Estelí and is packaged in five-count paper boxes.
