Moya Ruiz Cigars spilled the beans on last week’s Dojo Happy Hour that they were not only releasing a box press version of the La Jugada Habano and Prieto but they are also bringing back the Chinese Finger Trap for a limited run. The company described a “reset” in the way they do business and it comes with an updated logo. Other changes include the move to Florida from New Jersey as the team’s base of operations.
The first release is a line extension of the La Jugada Habano, 6 x 52 Semi-Pressed Toro. The blend features an Ecuadorian Habano wrapper with binders and fillers from Nicaragua. Nelson Ruiz described the cigar as having the same blend as the oprignal simply tweaked to accommodate the new size and box press. Due to COVID delays the cigars have apparently been aging for an entire year at the La Zona Factory in Estelí, Nicaragua. Along with the new line extension Moya Ruiz will re-release 2015’s Chinese Finger Trap. The Chinese Finger Trap #2. These limited edition boxes will sold exclusively through Caravan Cigar Company in Bath, Pa. While details are still being finalized, it should be available in December 2020.
