Passing the milestone 50-year mark for the Davidoff Cigars brand in 2018, the company continued its revisiting of many of its most acclaimed releases into 2019. This included the Davidoff Robusto Real Especiales 7, a special blend that was said to be the world’s first cigar blend to contain seven different tobaccos when first released in 2004. A feat in engineering and tobacco blending, the diverse blend amounted to tremendous complexity, earning Davidoff some of the company’s highest ratings ever recorded.

Davidoff’s master blenders provided their reinterpretation of the blend in the early months of 2019, reintroducing the cigars in their original format and blend. Davidoff Robusto Real Especiales 7 is crafted from six different Dominican tobaccos and finalized in a Habano-seed Ecuadorian wrapper; the leaves sourced are intended to embody the signature flavor profiles from each of Davidoff’s four most recognizable blends: Signature, Grand Cru, Aniversario and Millennium. And the experience does not disappoint, lighting up with an intriguing juxtaposition of bitterness and sweet/floral characteristics, aided by a mint-like sensation of the cut tobaccos against the tongue. And while the profile resembles the delicate flavors seen in many of Davidoff’s “White Label” offerings, the intensity has been increased. Highlight flavors of white chocolate, sourdough, guava fruit, creamy champagne, and even fondant cake icing appear as if on cue, bringing the smoker along for a calculated odyssey not unlike a multi-course flavor experience of the culinary arts.
