Nearly three years to the day since Cigar Dojo and RoMa Craft Tobac first collaborated on the fan-favorite Whiskey Rebellion 1794 project, the two have reunited to introduce the limited-edition followup: Whiskey Rebellion 1794 Pennsatucky.

In 2016, the original Whiskey Rebellion cigar launched in a singular robusto format, being sold exclusively through Pennsylvania-based retailer, Famous Smoke Shop. The release was limited to only 6,000 cigars, which became one of the fastest-selling Dojo collaborations to date, completely selling out in only one hour.

Whiskey Rebellion 1794 Pennsatucky seeks to break that record, bringing back the original blend in a connoisseur-centric 6½” x 44 lonsdale format; marking the first Dojo collaboration to feature a lonsdale vitola.

From the time we started talking about this brand with Dojo on the balcony overlooking Bourbon Street in New Orleans, I’ve wanted to express the blend in this size. While it isn’t a popular vitola, the lonsdale is the perfect format for balancing the strong Nicaraguan fillers against a bold wrapper. It’s been great to be working with Eric and Jordan of Cigar Dojo, as well as Jim and the team at Famous on a new project as we take WR 1794 national, and I couldn’t be more pleased with how the Pennsatucky has developed. Pennsatucky is a slang term referring to the crossover region that borders Western Pennsylvania and Kentucky. Following the Whiskey Rebellion in 1794, Western Pennsylvanians are said to have migrated to Kentucky, inspiring the Pennsatucky label.

The blend on the Whiskey Rebellion has always been one of my favorites. But when you put it in a lonsdale you take it to a whole new level! Whiskey Rebellion 1794 Pennsatucky is crafted using the same overall blend as the original release, including a high-priming Ecuadorian Habano Ligero wrapper, Indonesian Besuki binder leaf, and long-fillers from Nicaragua and the Dominican Republic. The result is a medium to full-bodied experience, bursting with sweet and barbecue-like complexities, including hickory, nutmeg, mineral, and brown sugar.

As the original Whiskey Rebellion collaboration helped to kickoff the full lineup of Whiskey Rebellion 1794 cigars in 2016, the Pennsatucky now guides the brand into its national release. Pennsatucky is offered in a very limited 500 boxes of 12 cigars, showing the Cigar Dojo logo along the cigar’s sub-band and packaging. Coinciding with the annual Whiskey Rebellion Festival in Western Pennsylvania, Pennsatucky will debut on July 12th. The entire release will be handled exclusively by online retailer, Famous Smoke Shop, with orders beginning at 12pm (Eastern Time).
