In 2019, Davidoff is coming off of a very successful 50th anniversary year. The brand began the year with multiple limited-edition releases, including the Davidoff Robusto Real Especiales 7 and Davidoff Winston Churchill The Traveller, as well as a host of even more limited blends from the company’s past, known as Vault Series cigars.

But for IPCPR, the focus was primarily on a renewed push for the Discovery Series (Black Label) cigars. Coinciding with the start of the trade show, new ads began appearing on social media with the hashtag #tastetheelements. Taste The Elements is the theme, where bright and colorful elements such as lava (Davidoff Nicaragua), water (Davidoff Escurio), and earth (Davidoff Yamasá) are shown against contrasting backgrounds.

Davidoff delved further into this concept at the company’s booth, where—in our opinion—they showcased the most elaborate/impressive experience ever seen at IPCPR. Sr. Brand Ambassador at Davidoff of Geneva USA, Klaas Kelner, guided visitors though an enclosed setup within Davidoff’s booth. This area had a haunted-house-like feel (sans the gags), where visitors were walked through various rooms, in where each room highlighted aspects of the three Black Label cigars. Loud volcanos could be seen and heard in the Nicaragua room. Calming sounds, fresh earth, and tobacco were seen/heard/smelled in the Yamasá room. Club-like music played in the Escurio room, joined by vibrant green lights, which radiated like flowing water throughout the Brazil-themed room. There was also a bartender that was serving cocktails made to pair with the cigars.
