Previously offered only as diplomatic gifts from Nicaraguan ambassadors, and later at special Joya de Nicaragua events, the company’s sought-after Número Uno blend is now slated for a global release later this year.
Número Uno joins Joya de Nicaragua’s Cuatro Cinco and Cinco Décadas cigars, together combining to form what is now known as the Obras Maestras series (translating to mean Masterpieces).
Of the three cigars in the Obras Maestras series, Número Uno is the most mild, focusing primarily on nuance and refinement. This is achieved through the use of an Ecuadorian Connecticut shade wrapper and all-Nicaraguan fillers, showcasing an overall medium body and strength.
Despite becoming more widely available this year, the cigars remain more limited than the Cuatro Cinco and Cinco Décadas, as JDN has rolled the blend in a singular size (6⅝” x 44) and plans to offer only 1,500 boxes each year.
Número Uno is priced at $15 MSRP, with the cigars being available exclusively to Drew Diplomat-authorized retailers in the U.S. The cigars will debut next week at the 2019 IPCPR trade show in Las Vegas, followed by a showing at Intertabac in Germany this September. Consumers can expect to begin seeing Número Uno cigars early this fall.
