AVO has announced the seventh release in the company’s ongoing limited edition Improvisation Series, appropriately titled Improvisation Series LE19. The cigars make use of seven different tobaccos from three unique countries and are slated for a release date of March 22, 2019.
AVO’s annual limited edition releases are known as one of the longest-running limited edition series in the world of premium cigars; first being launched in 2001, where special blends were introduced near company founder Avo Uvezian’s birthday. These “birthday” releases were later replaced in 2015 with the first cigar released under the Improvisation Series, AVO Classic Covers. The modern Improvisation Series is described by the company as being “based on unexpected music and cigar inspirations that create rich noteworthy experiences for all to celebrate.”
While many of AVO’s limited releases focus on musical concepts, the Improvisation Series LE19 is geared more towards the cigar’s shape, being only the second Improvisation release to showcase a box-pressed format (the first being 2017’s LE17 release). As such, the cigars feature custom packaging made to mimic the authentic molds used to give the cigars their pressed shape.
LE19 has been rolled in a singular 6″ x 52 box-pressed toro format, packaged in boxes of 20 cigars that will retail for $300 SRP ($15 per cigar). The cigar’s unique blend was crafted by Davidoff Master Blenders Henke Kelner and Eladio Díaz, where an Ecuadorian wrapper conceals a Dominican binder and five filler leaves from both the Dominican Republic and Peru. The resulting blend is described as “delivering a complex and intense palate stimulation with the perfect balance of thick cream and earthy spice.”
AVO plans to release 2,500 boxes (50,000 cigars) to the US market on March 22, with an undisclosed amount shipping to the European market. Only the US release will showcase the box-pressed version of the cigar, with European and other global markets receiving a non-box-pressed version of the same blend.
