PDR Cigars has partnered with Texas-based retailer Michaels Tobacco to introduce an exclusive version of the company’s CVR Connecticut Broadleaf Maduro line.
CVR Connecticut Broadleaf Maduro is among the most luxurious offerings from PDR, being offered at select retailers on an annual basis. With CVR Broadleaf Maduro Double Perfecto, the blend has been tweaked and introduced in a 6″ x 60 perfecto format.
While the original sizes were outstanding, the Double Perfecto takes it to the next level. The cigar starts with hints of black pepper and cedar notes and transitions to deep hints of espresso and dark chocolate. A complex taste of cedar, tree nuts, and cocoa come through as the cigar opens to the first half. As the cigar passes its apex and begins to narrow back down, the black pepper reemerges, but the cocoa and coffee remains, creating a complex cacophony of flavor that tantalizes the palate.
As with the original Connecticut Valley Reserve, the Double Perfecto features a Connecticut Broadleaf maduro wrapper over a double binder (Ecuadorian Corojo and Nicaraguan Habano) and fillers of Nicaragua (Condega Corojo ’98) and the Dominican Republic (Corojo). In addition, a light-shade wrapper has been added to the cigar’s head and foot.
The cigars are limited edition, being offered exclusively through Michaels Tobacco outlets (Euless and Keller stores) beginning on Oct. 15th. The 15-count boxes showcase similar designs to the original blend, having an added sub-band to distinguish the cigars as a Michaels Exclusive.
