Following 2017’s reintroduction of Camacho’s luxury-class Diploma series, the company has now released the 2018 edition: Camacho Diploma Special Selection 11/18.
When the cigars debuted last year, Camacho made it clear that the brand would only be available once per year (in a two-to-three-month span), showcasing new size formats with each release. The first batch was rolled in a 5″ x 54 Special Robusto size, available throughout November and December. For 2018, Camacho has rolled the Diploma in their signature 11/18 figurado vitola, available only in September and October.

Aside from the new shape, little else has changed for 2018, featuring the same ligero-focused blend from 2017 (as well as a new box layout). The blend is similar to Camacho’s best-selling Corojo cigar—using the company’s own, Honduran-grown, Original Corojo tobacco (90% ligero priming) throughout the filler, binder, and wrapper—only the leaves are all hand-selected, offering the “best of the best” from Camacho’s tobacco vault. In addition, Camacho’s top five rolling pairs are chosen to roll the entire collection of 27,000 cigars, where the product is then left to age for one full year before release.
The 11/18 vitola is 6″ x 48/54/48—a size that has been used for Camacho’s most exclusive/luxurious cigars for many years. There will be 1,500 boxes of 18 cigars offered to the U.S. market in 2018 (a select number will also launch in Switzerland in September and Germany later this year). Camacho Diploma Special Selection 11/18 retails for $22.50 (MSRP) per cigar.
