Oettinger Davidoff AG has announced they will be ending the Art Initiative by the end of 2018.
The Art Initiative was spearheaded by Mrs. Albertine Kopp (launching in 2012), allowing artists from the Caribbean to develop their skills in international residencies. In exchange, select artists around the world participate in a three-month residency at the Altos de Chavón School of Design in the Dominican Republic.
Since 2014, Davidoff has offered annual limited edition cigars under the Davidoff Limited Art Edition brand. These cigars feature custom-designed packaging and a unique cigar blend, made specifically for the project.
While the Art Initiative is coming to a close at the end of 2018, Davidoff says Albertine Kopp will be looking for new partners for the program, transitioning the Caribbean-focused project moving forward. It is unclear whether there will be future Davidoff Limited Art Edition cigar releases with the new program.
