At IPCPR 2018, little more than two weeks from now, Rocky Patel Premium Cigars will reintroduce the company’s popular Olde World Reserve cigars, according to a press release sent by the company today.
Both Olde World Reserve Maduro and Olde World Reserve Corojo cigars are returning, roughly 12 years after the brand originally debuted to consumers in 2006. Being released before Feb. 15, 2007, OWR should be considered a predicate product by the FDA and should not require the expected costly substantial equivalence testing.
While the original OWR cigars were all crafted at Rocky Patel’s Honduran-based factory, the new cigars have been split between Honduras and Nicaragua.
Since 2012, OWR cigars have been sold as shop-exclusive brands for Thompson Cigar, as the Costa Rican leaf in the OWR Maduro blend had become too scarce. Rocky Patel has now secured enough tobacco for a return to full-scale national distribution.
Olde World Reserve reserve will return in three sizes (Robusto, Toro, and Sixty), retailing between $9 and $11 SRP. The cigars are expected to ship in late summer.
