Gurkha Outlines New Cigars for IPCPR 2018

Ahead of IPCPR—now only two weeks away—Gurkha Cigars has unveiled the company’s updates to be showcased at the trade show. There are four projects, which Gurkha describes as “remastered predicate blends.”

Chateau de Prive

This is a limited edition project that veers from Gurkha’s usual fuller-bodied style, aiming for complexity and refinement. The cigars are limited to 300 boxes per size and will ship in late fall for a holiday release.

Marquesa

Marquesa recalls a classic, Cubanesque appearance and flavor profile from the pre-embargo era. As a unique feature, the cigars are packaged in split boxes of 20, where 10 cigars are box-pressed and 10 are traditional parejos. The cigars are described as “bold well-balanced medium body and spicy.”

Ghost Gold

A followup to 2012’s Gurkha Ghost cigar, Ghost Gold is described as a predicate blend with a bolder body than the original.

This smoke will appeal to the medium and full-bodied smokers and is made of an Ecuadorian Habano wrapper changing the complexity of flavor from the original Ghost’s sweet flavor profile to a nutty and earthy profile. An aged Criollo 1998 Binder and carefully selected U.S., Dominican and Nicaraguan fillers complement the Habano wrapper.

Cellar Reserve 10th Anniversary

Cellar Reserve 10th Anniversary was introduced at IPCPR 2017, commemorating 10 years since the company debuted the first cellar reserve cigar. The cigars were originally limited edition but appear to be returning on a more regular basis. Only a single vitola continues to be produced, offering a medium body / full flavor profile.
