After it’s critically acclaimed debut back in 2011, the Rocky Patel Fifty is being relaunched, but only in small batch releases and only in the brand’s most popular shape, a 6 1⁄2 x 52 Toro.
The Rocky Patel Fifty Toro will make its return at the IPCPR trade show on July 10 and will begin shipping to tobacconists later this month. For this initial run, 1,000 lacquered 10-count boxes were produced, showcasing the Toros in an attractive, eye-catching setting replete with familiar crystals and brushed copper.
The original Rocky Patel Fifty brand was a “limited edition” issue of 2,000 numbered 20- count boxes in three vitolas – Robusto, Toro, Torpedo. It was unveiled at the IPCPR in 2011 to commemorate Rocky Patel’s 50th birthday.
Furthermore, it was the accolade that the Rocky Patel Fifty received from Cigar Aficionado magazine – a 93-rating and the #8 Cigar of the Year ranking in 2012. At the time, that distinction represented the second highest ranking Rocky Patel had ever received from the publication’s Top 25 Cigars of the Year listings.
Rolled at the TaviCusa factory in Esteli, Nicaragua, the relaunched Rocky Patel Fifty Toro will carry a suggested retail of $21, identical to the pricetag of the original. It will also stay true to the 2011 blend, featuring the same lush Ecuadoran Habano-seed Oscuro wrapper surrounding a Nicaraguan filler and binder blend.
