In 2014, RoMa Craft shared a booth with Mombacho Cigars, a brand they intended to distribute. In 2015, they went their separate ways, RoMa returning to their own location. But in 2016, it’s sort of a mixture – with multiple brands tagging along, semi-attached to RoMa Craft’s base. These were other brands being made at RoMa Craft’s Fabrica de Tobacos Nica Sueño factory in Nicaragua, such as Pospiech Cigars, Guáimaro, and Fable Cigars. The latter may actually have been confused for RoMa’s own cigars, with their new “Fourth Prime” line having a very RoMa Craft-esque look.

Regardless, the RoMa Craft booth itself was buzzing with retailers as usual. The booth is very nicely designed – it feels open and does a great job highlighting each line in separate segments of the booth. I’d describe the vibe as rustic chic – combining cold blacks and steel with a contrasting reclaimed wood look – easily one of the nicest booths at the show.

Intemperance WR 1794

The Cigar Dojo community will be familiar with this one. Whiskey Rebellion 1794 was announced in June of this year as an exclusive collaboration between RoMa Craft and Cigar Dojo (a collaboration that began at the 2015 IPCPR, no less). RoMa has now debuted 5 new sizes to be sold exclusively through Famous Smoke Shop for its first year (the original Cigar Dojo vitolas have not been recreated). Therefore, the cigars were on display as more of a tease to retailers, as to what’s in store for the future. The original Cigar Dojo release consisted of 500 boxes of 12 cigars – the new and ongoing cigars will use 24 & 30-count boxes.

Wunder|Lust

Wunder|Lust was announced earlier this year as a new brand to be sold exclusively in the German market. While the cigars will not make it to the US, they were on display at RoMa’s booth. The cigar’s name alludes to RoMa traveling outside the US, as they will now be distributed by August Schuster GmbH & Co. KG in the European market. The cigars showcase a completely new blend and will officially become available to retailers at next month’s InterTabac 2016 (Europe’s IPCPR) in 4 sizes.

The 3 boxes on display each featured latitude and longitude coordinates that point to RoMa Craft’s US base of Austin, TX – August Schuster’s location in Bünde, Germany – and the Nica Sueño factory in Estelí, Nicaragua.

Other

While Whiskey Rebellion was the booth’s focus, there were other interesting updates as well…

Collaborations

The original Whiskey Rebellion made an appearance at the booth! RoMa featured a small section for their recent collaborations, such as Whiskey Rebellion with Cigar Dojo, CroMagnon Firecracker with Two Guys Smoke Shop, and Neanderthal OM H-Town with Stogies World Class Cigars (7 x 38 lancero – $9.50 – available late August). There was also a cigar titled “Fiorella”, named after Skip Martin’s newborn daughter (although he probably didn’t collaborate with her on this one…) – which has been seen recently on RoMa Craft’s social media. More information is not yet available on this cigar.

Limited Edition

It’s RoMa Craft’s 5th anniversary and they’re celebrating with a limited edition collaboration with XIKAR, as well as a limited size of their CroMagnon cigar. The XIKAR project is called CroMagnon Monolith and features 500 boxes of RoMa Craft-branded accessories and cigars. There will be a lighter, bottle opener, MTX multi-tool unit, ashtray can, and travel humidor. Also included are 10 CroMagnon Timeline cigars. This is a new 6¼ x 50 belicoso that will be included in the XIKAR set, as well as 1,500 bundles of 10 beginning in December.

Neanderthal

Neanderthal debuted in 2015 with a singular “HN” size (5 x 52/58 figuardo). There was also a smaller Neanderthal SGP size but it was not a regular production cigar until now.
