The Fuente booth was the same as always for 2016, save for the lack of Carlos Fuente Sr. and Jr. – foreshadowing for the devastating news that the legendary Carlos Fuente Sr. would pass away only one week later. This may have caused slightly less buzz surrounding the booth, but otherwise it was virtually identical to years past.

Casa Cuba Divine Inspiration

The Casa Cuba line was initially released in 2013 with pre-release sub-bands, eventually moving out of “beta” form in 2014. But the cigars had actually been delayed much longer, originally intended for the company’s 100th anniversary in 2012. The significant features of this new brand were a) it was the first true new line from Arturo Fuente since the OpusX in 1995 and b) it was the first blend crafted by Carlos Fuente Sr. in decades.

Fuente is now introducing the Casa Cuba Divine Inspiration, a completely new blend that is assumed to be the last creation from the late Carlos Fuente Sr. – whom reportedly was inspired to create the cigar in a dream and later comisioned the blend by instructions over the phone.

Fuente Fuente OpusX 20 Years Celebration

The first Fuente Fuente OpusX cigars went up for sale on November 18, 1995. Even in the midst of the great cigar boom, the cigars had caught the attention of enthusiasts prior to release—thanks to their unique backstory of the world’s first successful, premium, Dominican puro—as well as rave reviews from Cigar Aficionado, which itself had launched only a few years prior.

Now, twenty (one) years later, Fuente has finally unveiled the customary anniversary blend in celebration of this now-world-famous cigar. These were understandably some of the most talked-about cigars at this year’s show. OpusX has traded out its legendary red attire for a new blue appearance, using what looks to be the Destino al Siglo sub-band, replacing the text with “20 Years”. Little information is known of the blend and other specifics though.

Toast Across America 2016

2016 marks the 14th annual fundraiser for the Cigar Family Charitable Foundation, where proceeds go towards helping communities in the Dominican Republic. Fuente and J.C. Newman have put together a special 2-pack offering known as Toast Across America, where 100% of proceeds go towards the cause. Recent year’s colelctions have featured the popular “Shark” vitolas – including a cigar from each brand. For the 2016 edition, there will be a new figurado shape, featuring an OpusX and Newman’s new Diamond Crown Black Diamond cigar.
