One of the most colorful characters in the cigar industry Fred Rewey announced today that a new cigar ‘Martial Law’ will be introduced at this summer’s IPCPR show in Las Vegas. The new cigar features tobacco from all four regions of Nicaragua; Jalapa, Condega, Esteli, and Ometepe. Packaged in a 12 count box, with dividers, Martial Law marks Nomad’s 8th Nicaraguan blend and 11th blend overall in its portfolio of offerings.
Apparently the idea for this cigar was birthed as Fred was creating an amped up version of the Lot 8613. Fred stated… “The Esteli Lot 8613 has been one of my most popular blends. I love the rustic nature of it but also wanted something with a bit more punch or complexity. Basically the Matial Law blend started as my wanting a double ligero version of the Lot 8613 and kind of grew from there.”
Also of note is the fact that this cigar will be produced at Fabrica Oveja Negra owned by James and Angela Brown.
“I was very impressed with Fabrica Oveja Negra during a visit last year. Frankly, I have not seen anyone get a new factory up to speed as fast as they did. With attention to detail and excellent tobacco, a project there was inevitable at some point.” Said Rewey.
Details on the cigars are as follows:
- Wrapper: Habano
- Binder: Jalapa
- Filler: Nicaraguan
- Factory: Fabrica Oveja Negra
The Martial Law will come in a 6×50 vitola and have a $12 suggested retail price.
