Gurkha has announced the latest addition to its Cellar Reserve line of cigars within their Limited Edition collection—Cellar Reserve Platinum. Joining the 3 existing Cellar Reserve cigars, Gurkha Cellar Reserve, Cellar Reserve Limitada, and Cellar Reserve Edicion Especial, the new Cellar Reserve Platinum will contain the youngest tobaccos in the lineup, at 12 years aged—compared to 15, 15, and 18, respectively.
The cigar marks a shift away from the usual Dominican tobaccos used in the lineup, opting for a more bold, Nicaraguan profile.
“When developing the new Cellar Reserve Platinum, our idea was to provide a rich and complex smoking experience for the consumer. Due to the enormous success we’ve had with the Cellar Reserve lines made in the Dominican Republic, we felt that it only makes sense to expand the flavor profile by adding aged Nicaraguan tobaccos.”
– Juan Lopez, National Sales Director and in-house blender
The cigars had previously been showcased at the 2015 IPCPR show in New Orleans, and are slated for shipment to retailers by the end of November.
Three sizes have been rolled for the new Platinum: Hedonism (6 x 58), Kraken (6 x 60) and Solara (5 x 58) and retails for $7.99 to $9.99 per stick or $200 for a box of 20 cigars.
Cellar Reserve cigars were introduced in 2007, featuring well-aged tobaccos and luxurious packaging and presentation, including a tapered figurado shape and pigtail cap—a signature for the Cellar Reserve lineup.
