JR Cigar is preparing to release the second installment in its decade-inspired Revival series with the upcoming debut of JR Revival: 80s, scheduled to arrive on January 27.

The Revival project began in 2024 with Revival: 70s, created as a nod to JR Cigars’ founding decade. The new 80s edition continues that theme, drawing from cigar styles and blending influences associated with the era.

JR Revival: 80s is produced at Casa Carrillo in the Dominican Republic and features a blend of aged Nicaraguan and U.S. fillers, a Nicaraguan Habano binder, and an Ecuadorian Habano wrapper. The cigar is blended by Ernesto Perez-Carrillo, whose early work in the 1980s helped shape his career before his wider prominence during the cigar boom years.

“In 1980, I officially took over the family business,” says Carrillo. “This blend commemorates the memorable era that kickstarted my Hall of Fame career, and is a tribute to the 80s, with 45 years of experience behind it.”

JR Cigar Senior Brand Manager Nick Libretti said the company wanted the release to reflect the decade’s strong connection to Miami cigar culture.

“When you think of the 1980s and the style and vibes that encapsulate that era, you think of Miami,” says Libretti. “We knew JR Revival: 80s needed a blender who truly represented the Miami cigar scene during the era…”

Presentation also plays a role in the project, as the packaging is designed with 1980s styling cues, including influences from the “Miami Vice” aesthetic.

JR Revival: 80s is a 6 x 52 Double Perfecto, packaged in 10-count boxes, with an MSRP of $189.99 ($18.99 per cigar). The cigar will be available exclusively through JR Cigars beginning January 27.
