Kelner Cigars is preparing a special release to close out the year, announcing a limited-edition cigar created to celebrate the 80th birthday of Henke Kelner. The project, called Kelner LE 80, was blended by his son, Klaas Kelner, and rolled at the company’s Santiago factory. The cigar is positioned as both a tribute and a look back at the elder Kelner’s influence on Dominican cigar making.
The LE 80 comes in a single Diademas Finas size (50 x 7) and uses an Ecuadorian Habano wrapper with a touch of Yamasá tobacco incorporated into the recipe. According to the company, the blend aims to reflect the style and preferences long associated with Henke’s body of work.
“Creating this cigar for my father was deeply personal,” said Master Blender and CEO Klaas Kelner. “Every aspect of the Kelner LE 80 reflects my father’s unwavering commitment to excellence and his profound influence on Dominican cigar making.”
Henke Kelner echoed the sentiment: “Working together with my son to create this special cigar for my 80th birthday fills me with immense pride. The blend captures everything I’ve loved about cigars throughout my life… complexity, balance, and that unmistakable Dominican character.”
The Kelner LE 80 will be packaged in boxes of 10, each including a Boveda pack. Production is capped at 2,000 boxes worldwide, with 1,500 slated for the U.S. market. Pricing is set at $57 per cigar, with boxes retailing for $570. Availability is expected in late November or early December.
