Room101 Cigars is bringing back one of its most recognizable creations, the Namakubi Chingon, this fall. While the name may be familiar to longtime fans of the brand, this release carries a new twist: a reworked blend and packaging that departs from past versions
The Namakubi line, named after the Japanese term for a severed samurai head, has historically been produced in limited quantities. The latest Chingon (5.5โ x 60) was developed in collaboration with William Ventura at his factory in Tamboril, Dominican Republic. The blend features a San Andrรฉs Maduro wrapper, a Sumatra binder, and filler tobaccos from Pennsylvania, Nicaragua, and the Dominican Republic.
According to Room101, the cigar is designed to deliver a full-bodied smoking experience with flavors ranging from dark chocolate and espresso to oak, ginger sweetness, and black pepper. The profile builds in intensity as it progresses.
Room101 founder Matt Booth described the project in his own distinctive style, saying, โThe magic component of the Namakubi blend is that it is aged mathematically and strategically in the tears of our haters โ this is the source of the depth of its deliciousness. It is the taste of victory in the face of adversity.โ
Wiber Ventura, who worked alongside Booth on the project, added, โIt is always an honor to collaborate with my dear friend Matt Booth. We share such a strong connection in cigar making that ideas come to us naturally. Every time he approaches me with a new project, I get excited because I know it will become something explosive in the market.โ
The Room101 Namakubi Chingon comes packaged in ten-count piano-finished boxes and began shipping October 2nd. The suggested retail price is $24.99 per cigar.
